During the  SEACeM Stakeholder consultation meeting in Bangsar in 2008, the lack of financial resources has been identified as one of the major hindrances on the progress of independent media development in Southeast Asia. In order to fill the gaps, the SEACeM Fundraising Program was established  in 2010 to assist independent media in the region through the following activities:

Loan Consultancy: Through the experiences of Malaysiakini, and other Venture Capitalist, participants of this program will be guided through a step by step process to develop a Business Plan ready to be submitted to loan giving agency such as MDLF.

Grant Consultancy: Based on assistance by SEACeM, and other established Independent media in the region, participants will learn about the Logical Framework, and will be mentored to write a grant proposal to be submitted to the selected donor agencies.
