The ARMS Project

The Asia Human Rights Monitoring Systems (ARMS) project has a long term goal to improve the human rights condition in Asia by enhancing the capability level of the defenders of human rights in the region. However, the adoption of more advanced web tools for monitoring or collaboration is still very low amongst human rights organizations. The current practice of documentation or monitoring cases are still limited to manual process using spreadsheet and in some cases stand alone application, which has its own limitations.

ARMS is an ambitious project to integrate various databases of human rights system in Asia to enable effective information sharing, up-to-date analysis of human rights violations and for collaboration between various stakeholders. The pilot project running from 2010-2011 aims testbed this idea involving 8 organizations from the region.
